Now Arthur Abraham is waiting for WBO world title showdown
Even at a late hour, the fight night in Erfurt delivered fine boxing inside the ring. Super-middleweight Robert Stieglitz beat his challenger Nader Hamdan from Australia to retain his WBO world championship for the 6th time.
Even by the first rounds it showed what kind of fight would develop over the distance of this bout for the 38-year old challenger. Stieglitz, eight years the junior of Hamdan, was whooping the man from "Down Under" with crisp punches and clever punch-variation. But the Sydney-native did not resign. He used some of the champ´s carelessness to punish him with well-timed counter-attacks. Though, the outcome delivered: Hamdan his punches could not really impress Stieglitz who therefore was declared the winner after the bell of round number 12.
The final score sheets read 120:108, 117:111 and 117:111 for the new and old WBO super middleweight champion.
Although, it could be questioned how long Robert Stieglitz will be holding onto his beloved world title as a challenger named Arthur Abraham looms. The date is already known since tonight: It is going to be staged on August 25 in either Berlin, Hamburg or Magdeburg. Those news where revealed by Chris Meyer, CEO of Sauerland Event.
Hence, boxing fans can already be delighted for a late-summer showdown between these two warriors.
