Loaded undercard in Herning with Kaddour, Keller, Skoglund and Zam Zam

On June 2 in Herning, Denmark, Mads Larsen (51-3, 38 KOs) will prove his worth inside the ring against Luke Blackledge after a lengthy lay-off and WBC/WBA/WBO Female Welterweight Champion Cecilia Braekhus (19-0, 5 KOs) is defending her titles against Jessica Balogun.

Yet, those fights are not the only thing that is going to entertain the crowd that night: The undercard is filled with interesting clashes – a mixture of young Nordic talents and rugged veterans will set the tone for the main event.

One of them celebrated his birthday some days ago: Erik Skoglund (10-0, 5 KOs) turned 21 on May 24. However, the light heavyweight had no time to celebrate as he was training hard for his upcoming fight against Fouad Nasri. This will be his second bout inside two weeks. However, he has no problems with this circumstance: “A longer break between fights might be better but I want to show the boxing public that I learn a lot and progress under the guidance of my coach Mr. Roewer.” He was thrilled about the cake the mother of his coach had prepared for him. “All those candles and the cake by Mrs. Roewer were a pleasant surprise for me – now I cannot wait to step inside the ring again.”

Another boxer who wants to make big waves on June 2 is Reda Zam Zam (25-1, 12KOs). Already aged 32, he said that he has no time to lose to make it to the top. “I have been boxing for some time now and I want to make a proper living out of it for myself and my family. So I need to win and win in style.” The hard-hitting light middleweight is going to face-off with Italian Giuseppe Langella and happens to spend some days in Karsten Rower’s gym in Berlin. “He really pushes us to the limit. That is something I can take with me and implement into my training regime back home.” Zam Zam also likes the atmosphere at the training facility. “Although I have only been here for a few days, I already feel like a part of the group. It also helps that some of my compatriots train here with me.”

But the Danish fans will also be looking forward to see their young light middleweight hopeful Torben Keller (4-0, 1 KO) step into the Ring when he faces Luca Arrigo. The 25-year-old is another one who fought his last bout only two weeks ago. Nevertheless, Keller himself is not faced by facing two opponents within 14 days. “Actually I am quite happy about that,” said Keller. “That way the memories of my last fight are still fresh and I know exactly what I have to improve on. The only adjustment I have to make right now is to prepare fighting a southpaw. But that isn´t a real concern for me.”

Last but not least, Ahmad “Babyface” Kaddour (24-2-1, 10 KOs) will be taking on Gary Boulden from Great Britain. This is the first time that Kaddour has been preparing himself in Berlin and it has made a good impression on him. “Out here my focus is entirely on my preparations,” said Kaddour. “That is all I am doing and all I am thinking about.” The Dane wishes he could have been longer in Germany. “I feel really good. Currently, I am at about 80% of my strength. If I had been here earlier, I would feel even better,” said Kaddour. “Nevertheless, I am very positive that I will beat Boulden.”
